Chen was born in Shanghai in 1958. After graduation he followed his dream to America to become a Master Chef. He worked for 10 years in one of the most prominent Chinese restaurants in New York City. Chen studied for four of those years under the watchful eye of one of the most sought-after Chinese teachers who came from Hong Kong to teach the art of cooking. During this time he also studied the writings of many well-known Chinese chefs. Gradually Chen developed a style of his own that allowed him to apply all that he had learned. He saw the opportunity to introduce a unique culinary experience in the Pacific Northwest, and opened Chen’s Buffet here in Vancouver. His flair for the unusual has produced a restaurant the likes of which you will find nowhere else. We hope you enjoy his creations and will feel welcome each and every time you return.
